At Mammoth Insulation, sustainability isn’t a buzzword - it's built into everything we do. Our free TakeBack & ReUse programme is a powerful example of how we're actively closing the loop on insulation waste and driving the industry toward a zero-waste future.
In 2025 alone, Mammoth recycled an incredible 31,202kilograms (that's 31.2 tonnes!) of product and packaging, keeping valuable material out of landfill and putting it back into productive use. This achievement reflects both our commitment to environmental responsibility and the support of customers who choose to return their used Mammoth products through our free programme.
As the only insulation company in New Zealand with dedicated TakeBack drop-off locations nationwide, Mammoth has established collection points across Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, New Plymouth, Wellington and Christchurch, with more to follow, making it easier to recover and recycle insulation materials while keeping valuable resources out of landfill.
Once product and packaging arrives back at Mammoth's Auckland factory, they're fed into our purpose-built shredding and reclaim line. This process “reopens” the polyester, returning it to fibre form. Once processed, the fibre is recorded as raw material stock and used in the manufacture of new insulation - giving old products a brand-new life.
Mammoth products are bagged and returned for recycling through our TakeBack centre, ensuring the entire process remains efficient, traceable, and environmentally sound.
By offering FREE TakeBack drop-off locations in Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, New Plymouth, Wellington and Christchurch (so far), Mammoth is setting the benchmark for sustainable insulation practices. Our focus on reducing carbon emissions, minimising waste, and providing convenient recycling solutions reinforces our position as one of the industry's leaders in responsible manufacturing.
Together with our customers, we're proving that high-performance insulation and environmental responsibility go hand in hand - and that a zero-waste future is well within reach.

“For many years we have had a take-back programme where anyone can bring back Mammoth offcuts & packaging to our factory for recycling. While this is great, it is prohibitive to many builders, installers, and clients who work outside of Auckland where our factory is located.
We know that to capture as much of our product as we can, we need to provide easy solutions for clients using Mammoth to do the right thing and recycle it.
For this reason, we have opened up take-back locations in Hamilton, Tauranga, and Wellington, with more to follow. For large volumes we will also collect from clients free of charge. We also have our own install network which is a huge advantage as they send back mountains of product weekly for recycling.” Justin Grimshaw, National Sales Manager, Mammoth Insulation.
