Skillion Insulation Sections

High performance skillion ceiling insulation sections for new homes without a roof space.

Some ceilings do not have a roof space or attic above them. Mammoth™ Skillion high-density polyester sections are designed specifically for the 'flat roof' trend and sloped ceilings parallel to the roof line.

They are high density, moisture-resistant ceiling sections with a controlled loft for new homes without a roof space. They are also sometimes used as a retrofit solution in existing homes with a very low pitch.

Mammoth™ Skillion Sections are designed to promoted high thermal performance in modern skillion roof designs. The high density sections are made from 100% polyester with a controlled loft to ensure the required 25mm air ventilation gap to the roof is always maintained. They are Red List Free and allow a smooth crease-free friction-fit to enhance thermal performance.

  • All Mammoth™ products are Red List Free - International Living Future Institute.

  • Recycling plastic protects the environment by keeping the carbon content locked up in the
polyester fibre and reducing landfill waste.

A Skillion Roof is a roof that tends to have one sloping surface in contrast to a gable or hip roof that tends to have two or more sloping surfaces meeting near the middle.

Modern architectural homes use a variety of roof designs and Mammoth Skillion Sections can be used in any roof design where the ceiling runs roughly in parallel to the roof line.

It is essential that Skillion Insulation has a controlled loft so that it does not encroach into the required air space between the insulation and the roof lining.

Retrofitting insulation into a skillion roof has some challenges and it depends on the type of skillion roof you have.

Exposed Rafters: You can fit insulation into the gap between the rafters and then line the ceiling with wall-board attached to the rafters.

Hidden Rafters: Adding insulation is only possible by either removing the roofing to fit from above or removing the ceiling lining to fit from below. Adding or upgrading insulation would be best combined as part of a re-roofing or renovation/redecoration project.
